Can you tell us about yourself and your background, including your academic pursuits and any relevant extracurricular activities or experiences that relate to real estate?

My name is John Dalby, and I am a senior student-athlete graduating in December 2024 with a degree in Finance and Real Estate. During my time at the University of Tulsa, I have embraced opportunities both in and outside the classroom, building a foundation of practical experience and academic knowledge. Through connections built at University of Tulsa I was able to complete an internship with Goldenrod Companies and participated in the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC), where I analyzed the impact of Tax Increment Financing on local real estate development.

What inspired you to pursue your current field of study or academic interest?

My inspiration to pursue a degree in finance is driven by its ability to open doors to various career opportunities, while empowering me to achieve personal goals and financial stability. Beyond these benefits it gives me a better understanding of how businesses interact with each other daily, allowing me to make better decisions for my future growth.

Can you share with us a highlight or accomplishment from your academic journey that you’re particularly proud of?

One of the highlights of my academic journey is the accelerated path I’ve taken. I will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in just 2.5 years, a goal that requires taking on a full 18-credit course load every fall, spring, and summer, all while balancing the demands of being a student-athlete. This commitment has demanded significant personal sacrifices, but the process has taught me invaluable lessons in life that will be used long past my time at University of Tulsa

By staying disciplined and maintaining perspective, I’ve found that success in both academics and personal goals tends to follow naturally.

How do you balance your academic responsibilities with any extracurricular activities or personal interests?

Balancing academics, athletics, and personal goals is certainly a challenge, but I view it as an opportunity. I believe that pressure is a privilege, it means you’re working toward something meaningful. Maintaining this perspective allows me to prioritize my time effectively and remain focused even when daily task begin to stack up.

Are there any mentors or individuals who have had a significant impact on your academic or personal development? If so, how have they influenced you?

My family has been my greatest source of mentorship and support throughout my academic and athletic journey. They’ve instilled in me the value of setting ambitious goals and working
